What’s Your Leadership Image: Create Excellence with Lasting Impressions by Sharon A. Burstein is well organized and builds logically throughout, introducing fifteen concepts which she refers to as her "keys" to creating excellence, a final key which summarizes the purpose of the book and a bonus key to give her audience a thought to take away. Ms. Burstein occasionally adds a personal story which she refers to as a “Sidebar.”
The author builds on the importance of a good leadership image, who defines that image, how to build an image, how to communicate and connect with your team, perception from others, authenticity, and cultivating others to develop their image. She also fills the book with excellent stand-alone motivational quotations to reinforce the message.
Overall, I recommend the book as it brings together important ideas of creating a positive leadership image. The more reinforcement through stories and developing single paragraph ideas over multiple paragraphs would make this a much more effective book. I hope to have the opportunity to be in one of the author’s actual training sessions as I can tell from the material that she would be an excellent presenter.
