When Lena broke up with her boyfriend and moved to Paris, her intention was to find a quiet place to write her thesis and then spend the rest of the year sightseeing and hopefully deciding on what she really wanted to do with her life after getting her master's degree. But that was before she met Rob, the jaw-droppingly handsome French waiter at her favorite bistro. Lena had not thought she would get over her ex so fast, but meeting Rob helped with that. Before long they both knew they were very attracted to each other, but just when Lena was ready to give in to desire, she discovered that Rob had been paid to spy on her. Her new-found happiness was completely shattered. However, they knew that what they felt for each other was special so they gave it second try, but could their love survive a second betrayal and a very long breakup during which they both moved on with different partners?
What If It's Love? by Alix Nichols is a captivating love story that had me reading nonstop, eager to get to the end and see how the story played out. It had me holding my breath and rooting for Lena and Rob's relationship to work, even when I felt like slapping them sometimes for either being too stupid or too stubborn. The plot and characters are very believable and easy to relate to, and the poems added extra pleasure to my reading. The poems, just like the rest of the story, have deep meaning, give an emotional thrill and are at the same time very soothing. I loved the way Alix Nichols wrote the poems so that they connected deeply with the story and yet the connection was not too obvious or exaggerated. I absolutely loved reading What If It's Love? It is an incredibly well written contemporary love story with a dramatic twist and fans of the genre will have an amazing reading experience.
