Webster the Beagle and His Adventures at the River by Frank Payne is a delightful picture book that follows the adventures of a beagle called Webster. Webster was a hunting dog who got lost while hunting. He was later rescued and adopted by his new owners, who lived near the river, and he is now their therapy dog. As a result of their location, Webster frequently meets many fun and fascinating sea creatures, including those flying in the air, such as the osprey, and those living in the sea, such as crabs, oysters, and rockfishes. He even follows his owner to go fishing sometimes! Join Webster in his adventures by the river in this engaging children’s book.
Webster the Beagle and His Adventures at the River by Frank Payne is a short, simple, and easy story to follow. I enjoyed the beautiful and colorful illustrations by Romney Vasquez; Webster is super adorable. The book also contains “Did You Know?” sections that give important titbits about the river creatures that Webster met, making for an educative read—even for me! I didn’t know there was a bird called an osprey or that it mated for life. I found these parts of the book especially fascinating. Kids can enjoy looking at pictures of Webster and his friends while learning about them. Webster the Beagle and His Adventures at the River by Frank Payne is an entertaining and educative book that will be a perfect addition to any children’s library.
