Wave Pulse by Michael Zucaro is a collection of the author's original poetry, which draws on the concept of pulse wave analysis and flips it into the literal titular ideology as it applies to every aspect of our lives. The compilation is broken down into six distinct and interconnected parts: Eye on Love, Money Galore, Art Thrive, Universe/Multiverse, Human Will Universe, and Wave Pulse. Within each of these parts is the work itself. The pieces are all in free form and range in tone, tenor, and length, such as the lengthy Fourth Estate, Inc in the Money Galore chapter that has the hallmarks of a narrative poem as it describes the demise of liberty and integrity of the general population at the hands of those who control wealth, information and, as a result, power. The short, punchy piece Reset See in the Wave Pulse chapter succinctly conveys the necessity to retain a sense of self and all that surrounds us despite the constraints of forced mandates,

I admit that most of the poems in Wave Pulse took more than one pass for me to understand the messages Michael Zucaro delivers. Much like classic poetry, the nuances and word choices employed are rarely visible at first and this is definitely the case where Zucaro is concerned. I found this to be impressive given the sheer volume of poems he has collated, numbering in excess of five-dozen thought-provoking and profoundly deep individual pieces. My favorite is in Eye on Love and is the poem Airbrushed Diva, which discusses a dissonance of what is pushed forward at the expense of authenticity, and the cravings of those who are enamored by a façade meant to chasten with the stanza, “having scorned men’s flawed; overtures like an avenging angel; aloof, free to bluff; the nothing without; within she flies...” Overall, this is an excellent collection of intelligent poetry of modern themes that grab the humanistic in the most incredible fashion.
