Wanted: Hexed or Alive is a short story by Charity Parkerson. When a mysterious woman appears in his shop, Randall knows that there can be only one explanation for his guest. Confronting his friends, he discovers she is Rowena, a Fate. Desperately seeking his help to rid herself of an overly infatuated pirate, Rowena takes Randall to a ship in the middle of the ocean and demands he cast a spell. A fight ensues and Randall must conquer the Red Count, also known as Count Nicholas O’Hare. He has fallen in love with Rowena and wishes to use her powers for his own. Throw in several fallen angels and an overly eager pixie, can Randall rid Rowena of her troublesome companion?
Miss Parkerson has written a very interesting beginning to what I hope is a much more detailed story. I wish the story had been much longer. I felt there could have been a greater amount of detail put into the experiences of Randall and Rowena. The short story is very well written though, and it put me in the mood to read more magical tales. I particularly liked the pixie, Tam. She was very mischievous. It would have been very interesting to find out her history as well as that of the angels. I also wanted to know why Thomas led the Fate to Randall’s door. I will admit there were many unanswered questions. Wanted: Hexed or Alive is a nice taster and will get you geared up for other books by Miss Parkerson.
