All Cassia Reid wanted was to be able to see the world just like everyone else. However, after having laser eye surgery she got more than she hoped for. Cassia now has insight into a world she never would have thought to be real and all she wants is to go back to how things were. Unfortunately, Cassia must come to terms with the fact that the only constant in life is change. In the process of love, loss, friendship, and death, Cassia will have to adapt to this new world but at least she has some new supernatural friends to help her along the way. In all the confusion, who would have thought a grim reaper would be the best source of comfort.
Visionary by Claire Merchant was an absolutely delightful read. I found myself relating to the female lead Cassia in many ways which made it so much easier to sympathize with her journey. I also love how this book touched on various topics including friendship, grief, acceptance, and change. It was deep and thoughtful but still had those supernatural elements which are my life’s blood. I love the multitude of supernatural characters and how they’ve come together in the story. I found myself enjoying this even more than I thought I would and I’m so happy knowing there are more books waiting for me! Claire Merchant truly created a treasure with this book and I cannot wait to see the full extent of it in the rest of the Visionary series.
