Vengeance Overdue by Raul De La Rosa Sr. is a familial drama where our hero discovers secrets and lies that were kept from him for ages. Cristian is happy with the life he has made with his family. Their usual routines and the daily humdrum of their lives keep him content. However, things take a different turn when he suddenly gets the urge to dig into his family history. He was not expecting to find the web of lies and deceit that was kept from him. But the real trouble begins when he finds out that his family is in grave danger. There is something big coming towards his family and it seems like Cristian has to do something, anything to protect them. Should he continue to find out what happened all those years ago? Or should he let it be for the sake of his family?

How suspenseful can a family drama be? That was the question I asked myself when I started reading Vengeance Overdue and as you can guess, I got my answer after the first chapter. The author has shown tremendous ability in not only showcasing the mystery/suspense element of the story but also highlighting the strengths of the protagonist. From the moment the story begins, you will see that Cristian is a family man who loves his aging parents, but his need to know is bigger than even he anticipated. I loved the dual point of view narrations and I enjoyed how Raul De La Rosa Sr. merged the past with the present. The result is incredible. The reader is left anticipating more, desperate to know what happened in the past, and what will happen next in the future. This is very smart writing, a quick and entertaining story.
