Unexpected Blind Date by Joanne Rawson is a hilarious look at blind dating. Grace Worthington is over men. Period. After consuming copious amounts of Sex on the Beach cocktails, she swears that she will never have sex again. Ever. That is until she, somehow, finds herself agreeing to a blind date – something she would never have done had it not been for the Tequila Slammers. Things take a very interesting turn when she meets her blind date, Adrian. He is not quite what she was expecting, but then she is perhaps a little blinkered when it comes to men and blind dates. Anyway, she doesn’t have to marry him, does she, only meet the guy.
Unexpected Blind Date by Joanne Rawson is a very funny short story, full of little anecdotes and is exceedingly well written. Sometime short stories are just the thing when you haven’t got the energy to get into a full size novel and this is one of the better ones. It has just the right amount of humor and, if there are any singletons out there, I urge you to read it. It’s a hilarious account of a blind date with some unusual twists and turns along the way. I found myself rooting for Grace because she was such a nice unassuming character. Joanne Rawson is a top class writer who knows how to spin a story and puts the effort into making a short story feel like a full story. I will be reading more of her books.
