All you turkeys, get ready to dance along to the Turkey Trot! Carli Valentine has written and illustrated a fun, moving, and grooving story in Turkey Trot: Funny Book about a Silly Turkey’s Dance Moves. First, we meet our male turkey, who has some very silly dance steps. However, his moves attract a mate who loves to move and groove too. They do some fancy footwork, even a little bit of turkey twerking. Turkey Trot is filled with fun rhymes that will provide your tongue with a workout also. There is a whole lot of wobbling and gobbling going on. In the end, the turkeys invite readers to join in on the dancing.
Turkey Trot is a joyous book! Carli Valentine's story is perfect for reading at Thanksgiving time or anytime you want to get kids up and moving. As a former Storytime librarian, I can envision how quickly kids will be ready to jump in and shake their tail feathers and flap their wings. The illustrations are bright and quirky. The male turkey has some groovy sunglasses and both turkeys are sporting multicolored tails. The pictures showcase the merrymaking that the turkeys are displaying. Kids and adults love to read books that make them laugh and invite them to join in on the action. Carli Valentine also includes some early language skills, including rhyming, alliteration, and playing with word sounds. This book celebrates movement, rhyming, and best of all some plain old-fashioned fun. Get ready for lots of gobbling, wobbling, and laughter as you enjoy it.
