In Trust No One, a Jack West crime novel by Deanna King, the Attorney General's office instructed Detective Jack West to cease his investigation into a triple homicide. However, agents Janet Spears and Sophia Medina gave him the impression that he should keep looking into it covertly. Chief of Detectives Davis Yao persuaded Jack West to re-enter the force as a detective, and after obtaining his badge and service weapon, Jack was prepared to pursue retribution for the deceased. Captain Veronica Justice assigned Jack cold cases, but since the triple homicide investigation was still pending, he felt free to work on it. Jack believed there was much more to the unsolved triple killing and was dispatched undercover to Mexico to help Sophia with a case related to it.
Deanna King's Trust No One captivated me with its fast-paced action. It was a page-turner filled with non-stop action and never a dull moment. I found it difficult to put the book down, and I could not stop turning the pages as fast as I could. I did not know what would happen next because of the twists and turns that had me guessing until the end. The characters were well-developed and relatable. Jack was fearless when it came to facing danger, and he was highly skilled. Even though Janet and Sophia were good agents, they faced discrimination due to their gender. The book was extremely well written and far better than I had expected. It was an exciting read.
