Travels of Gannon and Wyatt: Australia is a young adult adventure by Patti Wheeler and Keith Hemstreet. Twins Gannon and Wyatt were thrilled about the trip to Australia with their parents. They planned all the exciting activities they wanted to do: explore the Outback, learn about the Aborigines, play the didgeridoo and speak Aussie slang. Yet the brothers got more adventure than expected. Their itinerary definitely hadn’t included venturing into the Cage of Death. When their chartered plane crashed on the forbidden Arnhem Land, Gannon and Wyatt, scared and weak from hunger, tried to remember the survival tips that Darla the guide mentioned. Would that be sufficient to defend themselves against blood-thirsty mosquitoes and the ferocious creatures that were aware of their presence?

Gannon and Wyatt are identical twins with very different personalities. Gannon is more easygoing with a dry sense of humor, even in serious situations. Wyatt is a bit more serious-minded, but still a lot of fun to be with. The brothers keep well-documented journals of all their daily activities. The story is actually a compilation of Gannon’s and Wyatt’s diaries, which is very expressive, informative, and entertaining. I learned so much about Australian history, the Aboriginal cultures, and other interesting things. The books in the series are about Gannon and Wyatt’s travels to other countries. I do hope I’ll get the opportunity to complete this series. The cover artwork is awesome. Patti Wheeler's and Keith Hemstreet's writing is natural, engaging, and easy flowing. The dialogue, as well as journaling, is sufficient proof of the authors’ skills. Australia is a novel from the Travels with Gannon and Wyatt Series that young adults will find a pleasure to read.
