Having read probably hundreds of business books over the years, I was wondering how this book was going to present something new that hadn't already been written before. Gino Wickman's Traction is a good compilation and mix of currently accepted best-practice business solutions combined in one easy-to-read book. He doesn't just "steal" the ideas of others, but he gives credit where credit is due and builds upon each theory and practice to create one large success formula that he believes should be utilized by all business owners, large and small.

Wickman created his own formula, the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), that he describes in great detail throughout the book. He masterfully lays out what he believes to believe the six key components and then provides a "Pulling It All Together" section in Chapter 9. You'll get a kick out of his "Letting Go of the Vine" story at the beginning of Chapter 2. In this section, he explains how most business owners are unable to reach the next level because they're not ready to let go of the vine. I could see myself in that chapter when I was managing a small business and tried to stay hands-on in every aspect of the business. As Wickman proves, it is not a good idea to try to that; you have to learn how to let go. This is a good resource for business students and business owners alike.
