Torn Apart / Restored by Darin Carroll & Teila Tankersley is a biography of Darin and Gloria who live in a bad marriage. They finally decide to put an end to their constant fights by deciding to divorce. While they are finalizing the details of the divorce, Gloria has a change of heart. But her husband is involved with his former girlfriend. The relationship takes a nasty turn when he is charged with murder. Gloria puts all her faith in God and leaves the situation to Him. She builds a relationship with Christ, which is the inspiring part of the book.
The book has everything: a broken marriage, love, murder, religion, suspense, and drama. The author has done a good job in weaving these elements together. Gloria's unswerving faith in Christ forms the backdrop of the story. The quiet presence of God and how His plans unfold while the world deserts Gloria is very inspiring and uplifting. That is the pivotal point in the book; the presence of God and how He turns things around for Gloria. The power of God is reiterated in the book. These types of books can uplift and rejuvenate your soul and make you transform your life for the better.
The story is one of redemption and how Gloria, with her faith, proves that God will forgive you of any sins if you are ready to start afresh. I found it highly uplifting. The gentle presence of Christ is so soothing and like a balm to any soul. Books like this are constant reminders of God's presence in our lives.
