Time and Blood: Evening Bower Book 1 by Sherry Rentschler is the story of a woman named Rhea, not a woman you would like to meet or even come across in your life. She is a phoenix, a phenomenon that survived a tragedy, and is now the last of her kind. Over time, she came to terms with her loneliness and the fact that she would be spending the rest of her life alone. But when she hears a voice she had not heard for centuries, she knows that she has to find the source and meet him. Jean-Louis turns out to be a vampire who was plagued by nightmares and now that he has found Rhea, he knows that she is the one. He will do whatever it takes to keep her in his life, even if it means risking his immortality. There are forces ranged against Rhea and a secret she possesses is exactly what they want. Can Jean-Louis and Rhea survive the attack that comes relentlessly from all directions?
Time and Blood is the perfect example of what happens when you mix a well-researched paranormal fiction with romance. This is a gem of a novel that offers readers something new and completely incredible. While most paranormal romances are far fetched and convoluted, this story is pretty good and believable. I connected with the characters immediately and felt their story in my heart. This is as good as it gets, which is brilliant, because most romances fall way off the mark when it comes the paranormal. Snappy and fast-paced; I loved how the story line flowed and how the characters were woven into the story. Nothing was out of place, nothing felt forced, and everything was just perfectly combined together for a brilliant effect. I loved how Rhea and Jean-Louis were their own person even when they were together. The chemistry and the relationship between them did not hinder their own development and their own brilliance. I thoroughly enjoyed this romance. It was unexpected and very, very refreshing.
