In his book of selected poems, "Through Loving Eyes", Dave Caraccioli captures, with pristine, tender images, the spirit of romantic love. His words, in their simplicity and in their rhyme, bring to focus the all-consuming and passionate sweetness of being in love. The Poems (chapter 1) and Essays (chapter 2) follow this theme in a natural progression, adding the insight of Mr. Caraccioli's inner thoughts, motivations and reflections on life. His words touch our collective souls; reminding us of the ache, the desperate longing, and the "foreverness" that occurs when we happen upon that one special individual we can call our "soulmate."
The imagery is well done, painting bright, clear and honest pictures. Pictures of lovers; caught in a whirlwind of passion and poignant emotion. The poems rhyme simply and convey Caraccioli's message, a message that carries the honest sweetness of Valentine's Day. His free-verse, "free-thought" essays in Chapter Two, contrast in form but follow the theme. The essays were inspiring, thought-provoking and honest. As a whole, the book is a salute to old fashioned, romantic love.
