Callan J. Mulligan was born in 1988 and grew up in Adelaide, South Australia.
Writing poetry and fiction from a young age, his ambition and imagination took him through several creative careers including Marketing, Music, and Film & Television. At the age of 29 he wrote his first published work of fiction, the novella, A Mind of His Own. The debut work received critical acclaim and hit amazon's Top 25 Psychological Thriller list. He has since appeared in Australian science fiction magazines and published his highly anticipated scifi-thriller, The World Settlers.

It is best suited to adult readers owing to the presence of graphic violence and explicit language throughout. Penned by author Callan J. Mulligan, this highly immersive novel unfolds in a future where humanity, having expanded across the Orion Arm of the Milky Way after losing its cradle, faces new challenges aboard the Astraeus, a colossal world-settling starship. Led by Lizabeth Denning, passengers embark on a journey to explore new worlds at the galaxy's center. However, their voyage is marred by a gruesome murder and mysterious tremors threatening the ship's integrity. As tensions rise, Lizabeth and her companions must unravel the truth behind the murder and the ship's malfunctions before succumbing to the dangers of space. But as they delve deeper, they uncover a web of secrets and a conspiracy that threatens the stability of the entire galaxy.
Author Callan J. Mulligan has crafted a novel with imaginative world-building and a gripping narrative that kept me immersed and engrossed from cover to cover. As I followed Lizabeth's quest for truth against a backdrop of cosmic exploration and intrigue, the tension and suspense heightened with each page, building to a fantastic plot with rapid twists and turns that were unpredictable but fitted the storyline and the logic of the world so well. The characters were well-developed, each with their own motivations and secrets. I really enjoyed the dynamism and characterization put into the dialogue, even for the smallest characters, to make them all feel so unique. What results is a captivating read that seamlessly combines thrilling adventure with thought-provoking themes about humanity's future among the stars. Overall, I would certainly recommend The World Settlers as an immersive reading experience that transported me to a richly imagined future universe, and will surely do the same for science fiction fans everywhere.
