The Wind was busy during Spring because it had to blow away the remnants of Winter and make the ground ready for everything to grow. The Wind needed to be strong to warm the earth. It asked the birds to begin their work and asked the seeds to start growing. It asked the animals to get out and unblock the holes where they were hiding. A little mouse was sleeping down a hole in the middle of the field. She slowly lifted her head out of the nest when the wind blew down the burrow and touched the tip of the mouse's tail. The mouse was comfortable and did not want to move. The next day again the same thing happened and the mouse did not want things to change. The wind started wondering if it would ever be able to wake up the mouse. What does the wind do to make the mouse wake up? Would she wake up after that?

The Wind and The Mouse by Michelle Worthington is a charming story about how change is constant and how it can actually make many uncomfortable. Adyna Ferre breathes life into the author's words, characters, and concept with her wonderful and ethereal illustrations, and makes the story captivating for young readers. It is a good story for children to understand the importance of accepting changes and helps them realize that changes can bring good things. The story can be used for storytelling sessions in homes and classrooms because of the positive message it conveys.
