A young woman disappears in 1944 without a trace and isn't heard from again until her ghost appears to a twenty-first century manager of a summer lodge in the captivating mystery novel, The Wildwood Ghost Mystery by Lanin D. Thómasma. Steffi is the manager of the Wildwood Springs Lodge in Steelville, Missouri. One summer day while preparing the Lodge for visitors, Steffi hears the voice of a woman coming from inside the empty building. Following the sound of the voice, Steffi encounters the apparition of Sally Ann. The woman is attired in clothing of the 1940s and has no idea that she is dead, nor does she remember how she died. To discover what happened to Sally Ann, Steffi begins researching her background and that of the Lodge. In piecing together the events of Sally Ann's life, some unexpected elements are uncovered. Had Sally Ann inadvertently stumbled onto some dangerous knowledge? Could it have been a jealous lover or a German prisoner of war who was responsible for her demise? Was Sally Ann's death an accident, or did someone kill her?
The Wildwood Ghost Mystery by Lanin D. Thómasma is a charming mystery novel. Set in the Ozarks, the story is enjoyable and engaging. Containing an entertaining plot with the added surprise of an unexpected twist, interesting characters, and an intriguing mystery, it keeps the reader fascinated from beginning to end. It also has the nice element of a short story in which the author doesn't drag the story out but brings it to a timely conclusion, making it easily read in one sitting. I loved the World War II aspect intertwined within the plot and was very pleased to note the historical facts were accurate. This delightful tale can be enjoyed by readers of all ages who love ghost stories that explore the past. I am very impressed with the writing and the editing is perfectly executed. This is a wonderful story and I look forward to reading more of this author's work.
