The Redemption is the third novel in The Well House Chronicles by M. S. Matassa. Ben Carson is severely depressed after his son Taylor is taken away by Jack St. Louis, a.k.a. Satan, to the depths of Hell. Ben starts to question things that shouldn’t even be on his mind, but he is a man who keeps fighting a hard battle and keeps paying the price with his blood. Now that his son is in Hell, Ben is ready to embark on a new battle, and this time, he fears no one. With his family and friends by his side, Ben revisits the Well House to find a way to get his son back and, this time, he is ready to end the battle with evil. Ben’s guide is the strange dreams that push him in the right direction. All he has to do is have faith in God and hope that all his hard work is not for nothing. Can he fight this evil, defeat it once and for all and keep everyone safe? Or will Satan win and rule the world?
I am mad at myself for not finding this series sooner. Ben Carson, his struggle to fight evil and keep his family safe is a story that I will remember. The Redemption is a combination of mystery, suspense, and fantasy all rolled into one perfect narrative. Ben’s journey is honest and entertaining. He, Molly, and Anne fight against the evil that roams around in the form of Jack. Ben is the true hero of the story; he fights with all his heart; he never gives up, and he fights to keep his faith in God’s grace intact. However, Taylor's journey plays a nice motivation for the reader to keep on turning the pages. The narrative moves effortlessly throughout Ben’s journey. The action keeps the story moving forward, the pace is perfect, and the multitude of characters all serve their purpose. The story feels real because I can feel the emotions running through Ben, Taylor, and the rest of the ensemble of characters. This allows the reader to get invested and feel the chaos Ben goes through, which makes reading more interesting. I highly recommend this novel!
