The Voice of Thunder by Raina Kadavil is a young adult fantasy that knows no boundaries. Zaara is an Asteirian princess who is dissatisfied with the dull life she expects to continually live. When Jay Sattler offers her an amazing proposition, she jumps at the chance to see the world around her as it truly is, not just through the eyes of a princess. But Zaara isn't prepared for the depths of what she will learn. Many things are not as they seem and people like her are talented with gifts from air, earth, water, and fire. Zaara learns that a rebellion is on the rise, to seek justice that could destroy the world as she knows it. As Zaara learns more about the role she has in the world, she discovers her responsibilities as the keeper of the fifth element, a rare and dangerous element that preserves the delicate balance of Asteira's order and chaos. Will Zaara make the right choice? Can one person keep the delicate balance needed, or will Zaara's choices threaten the entire kingdom once and for all?

This is a truly beautiful story that is written like a true fantasy. The world of Asteira is delicately written and the characters are all unique and different and fantastical in a way that readers of this genre will appreciate and gravitate towards. The world is described in such rich detail that it makes for a truly captivating story.
