Author Biography

Jessica D. Adams is an Occupational Therapist from Pennsylvania. She is the author of the children's books about The Underground Toy Society. She has two daughters, who are the inspiration for the stories. Her daughters were receiving a lot of toys and gifts, yet wanting more and more. The girls never wanted to clean their rooms and often left their toys all over the floor. She decided it was time for The Underground Toy Society to teach them the importance of cleaning up their toys and taking care of them and appreciating what they have instead of wanting more. She wanted her daughters to learn the importance of thinking of others and helping others.

It's Halloween night in The Underground Toy Society Halloween Scare by Jessica D. Adams, and everyone is out enjoying spooky traditions. Everyone, including a special group of toys; The Underground Toy Society. Helping abandoned and forgotten toys in search of loving homes, this toy society is ready to change more lives for the better ... only the night is dark, and the toys fall into a deep, dark hole! Now, they must find a way out before the evening is over. As they call out for their friend Murry Mole to assist them out of the hole, something distracts them and the toys must face a fearful creature. Will the toys be able to help rehome special toys to new, loving owners? Can they get out of the tunnel into safety before it is too late?

The Underground Toy Society Halloween Scare by Jessica D. Adams is a delightful children's picture book about unlikely friendships and teamwork. The images are vivid and attractive and the words are melodic to the point that the illustrations aren't necessary. This book is a delightful and charming addition to any child's Halloween library, as it is not frightening but sufficiently interesting to keep the young reader involved. I found the characters to be entertaining and the story to be quite colorful; I wish that the book had been longer! Along with teaching children teamwork and compassion, this story also touches on facing fears. I would recommend this book for children ages three to six years old.
