The Twisting Flame by Tayvia Pierce is a tale of two kings, one throne, allies, enemies, and collaterals in between. Eilam kidnapped Lady Carys from Lund and whisked her off to Azkaelom at the quest of Lord Daon. People had the impression that Carys possessed knowledge of vital information. However, in the land of Azkaelom, she discovered some information that shook the very foundation of her existence. When the people she loved, including her mother, turned out to be different persons than she thought, it was a dilemma. What would Carys do after finding out that her life and ancestry were a lie? Who could she trust, and what was her part in the brewing war? Follow Lady Carys as she fights for survival with wit, cunning, and sheer strength.
The Twisting Flame by Tayvia Pierce is the second installment in The Rise of the Phoenix series. It was engaging, action-packed, and intense. Manipulation, treachery, betrayal, deception, violence, abuse, loyalty, and more were themes explored in this novel. I loved the strong plot and captivating storyline. The characters were memorable, formidable, and consistent. Tayvia is a talented storyteller who pulled me into her tale and held me spellbound until the end. Carys was a heroine on all counts. She was strong, daring, witty, and brave. Madox, Magistrate Kenton, Aharon, and Kasia were my most favorite characters besides Carys. Eilam was a character that I hated with a passion because I couldn’t stomach the abuse. He was a weak bully. I eagerly anticipate the next installment in this series. Please, write more, Tayvia.
