The Tree Monkeys by Wynne Marshall is a beautifully written children's book about a young boy who lives near a a steep hill. On top of the hill there sits a tree. A big, mighty tree. The boy's tree. The boy loved the tree and he knew the tree well. The boy knew every knot on every branch. The boy was the only one who ever climbed the hill to visit the tree. But then one day, when he goes to visit the tree, he finds monkeys in his tree. The boy wants the monkeys out, but the monkeys don't want to leave. Will the boy ever get the monkeys out?

I really enjoyed reading The Tree Monkeys by Wynne Marshall. The book teaches younger children about the importance of sharing, and about how they shouldn't be selfish. The book is a little sad, because the story doesn't end well for the boy, but he learns a valuable lesson. The pictures by Cynthia G. Hale are very well drawn, and show each scene very well. The pictures are also very colorful and bold. The book has some funny parts, like when the monkeys drop a banana peel on the boy. Children will want to read this book over and over again. The book is very well written and well developed. Readers will be able to relate to the young boy, because many people don't want to share at times, just like the boy. I would recommend this book to all young readers.
