The Tilt-A-Whirl Man: Psychological Thriller by Sharon Erwin is the story of a man who was just trying to get back on his feet, but something strange changed the direction of his life. Cal was not living his best life. He had a very good engineering degree, had a job that he enjoyed and had a girlfriend who he thought he loved. But when he was laid off, everything changed. He was dumped; he became an alcoholic and became a miserable person. In an attempt to better his life, he gets a new job in a new town and rents a very decent place at a low rent. While his sister is suspicious of why such a place is up for such a low rental, Cal is just happy to have a nice place. However, he soon finds out that there is a lot that he doesn’t know about this new place. There is something in this house, a certain someone is trying to get his attention and wants his help. The more he delves deeper into the history of the house, the more he realizes that he needs to help this person.
This was a surprisingly good story. The author has done a wonderful job of building up the story, getting the reader invested in Cal’s growth and interested in the story. The plot is fast-paced; the author introduced the action very quickly and ensured that the reader was hooked. I enjoyed Cal’s growth and his reactions; instead of being scared of Alicia, he was sympathetic and helpful. He was determined to help her out; he had his doubts, but that didn’t stop him. It is scary to think of how many predators go unnoticed because their victims were silenced before they could raise a finger. And the author has done a great job of trying to bring it to attention. A very entertaining novel.
