Life In Retirement By Ike Moran is his Tenth Group of Assignments Book. Ike, who has been the hero throughout this series, is ready to go into retirement. After years of cleaning out the underworld of druggies, the mafia, and all the villainous thugs, he plans on moving to the island of Biafra. Only retirement does not last long. It seems that some of those he destroyed had children, wives or other family, and one can guess where they have shown up! As Ike soon learns, Life In Retirement is no fun. He should have gone to Iceland or Alaska instead of this tropical island. From beautiful women to gang lords, Ike is right back in the midst of them. With his beloved Agnes in his pocket, he manages to get out of all the scrapes he gets in.
This is the third book that I have read of Mr. Moran’s, and now I may look for the others just to have the whole series. They are a fast-paced, short read that can be read in an evening. Ike, who just happens to have the same name as the author, must have nine lives. Reading this book was like following the character on his next big adventure. What kind of predicament was he going to get himself into this time! As I read about his newest adventure, it came to mind that not only is he lucky, but he has a powerful memory; he can remember people from way back when. If you haven’t read any of the author's books yet, I feel you will enjoy them. They are cleanly written but do contain a bit of murder and some scripture.
