The Spirit Fire: Children of Adonai by Brandy Marks is a magical, romantic fantasy adventure exploring in a unique way the standoff between good and evil as it plays out around biblical motives. We meet Isadora, a fire dragon born and raised in Hell’s prison, and her half-sister Kaida. Evil fae Drake lusts after Isadora but she turns into a fire dragon and escapes him, longing for true love. Drake spellbinds and seduces Kaida instead. Kaida gives birth to two female babies whom Drake takes away from her. Isadora decides to go and find Kaida’s daughters. She also hopes to find Mi’reu, the mate of fae Darius, who is Isadora’s friend. Darius had searched for Mi’reu everywhere except in the Aether and in the Faerie Realm, so Isadora’s quest leads her there. Who or what will Isadora discover?

If you like stories full of magic, faeries, demons, dragons, seraphs, dwarves, elves, orcs, fauns, or vampires, look no further – the Spirit Fire by Brandy Marks has them all in abundance This is the seventh book in the Children of Adonai series but it reads perfectly well as a standalone, thanks to the preface Brandy thoughtfully wrote as the opening chapter. My favorite aspects of this enchanting and fast-moving magical fable were the freeing of fire dragon Elena and the thought-provoking discussions about God, faith, and true love. I enjoyed the hilarious humor, especially “Is he losing his mind? Impossible. He lost it long ago.” And I absolutely loved how Brandy’s ingenious “Ultimate Veggie Wrap” and “the Fae Kingdom of Northern Ireland, and all Other Territories” instantly made the story and its characters relatable. I highly recommend this magical tale to adult fans of fantasy, adventure, and romance. Due to the mature level and sexual nature of some scenes, this book is unsuitable for younger readers.
