The Soul of an Eagle by Edmond E. Frank is an inspirational book inspired by the author’s own life, a story with strong psychological and spiritual underpinnings. The author shares an experience of “near-death” or his metaphorical death. At the ICU and convinced that he was going to die, Jeff met Big D. It was when life appeared to be over for him that he met the Angel of Death. Big D had counseled him in the last few years, after he had begged for time. When this book begins, he has just had another accident and the first person he meets is Big D. Follow Jeff on a spiritual odyssey that will reveal the deep truths about life, love, and death.
This book reflects the fascinating story of the author’s experience with Death and it is also a book filled with powerful truths — the liberating truths about life. One of these truths is that death is not the end. It is the transformation of consciousness. It is an awakening into the deeper truth of who we are. Edmond E. Frank offers insights about love and shares Jeff’s experience with his wife; at the point of death, he discovers that his wife really doesn’t love him; she only uses him for security. The curious thing is that even though the protagonist feels unloved by the wife, he does not reciprocate the feeling.
The Soul of an Eagle entertains in many ways, filled with lessons that will teach readers the unconventional way of loving, the freedom to embrace their truth, and the courage to grow. I found myself pondering on the words in this book, following the characters as they uncover, layer after layer, our existential truth. Edmond E. Frank is a great storyteller who knows how to craft scenes and dialogues that are loaded with lessons for readers while keeping them fully engrossed.
