In The Return of Jason Foxx by Kevin Lavey, Jason Foxx has plans for his future. Jason wants to help Brian get back on his feet after his discharge from the hospital. The medical power of attorney's signature is required for documentation from the hospital, and Jason’s father has full power of attorney. Jason has a problem with this because his father is spending time in a federal prison. Jason also aspires to head up a high school for problematic youths after nine years of teaching. Jason will be observed, and it will count toward his year-end evaluation. Jason could not find the folder with the lesson plan to successfully lead his students through his second observation of the year. He finds that things do not always turn out the way you want, and his plans are slipping away.
The Return of Jason Foxx is about teaching, family, and love. Kevin Lavey leads the reader on a journey to accomplishment that comes from kindness, knowledge, and tenacity. The story was easy to read and kept me engaged throughout. The chapters flowed into each other, and I just kept turning the pages. The drama kept me on the edge of my seat. I was guessing until the end and could not put it down. The characters were authentic and relatable. They could have been anyone I know. My favorite character was Jason, and he had my support the entire time as he succeeded in overcoming the devastation of his traumatic upbringing. This story is beautifully written and much more than I expected.
