India is under British rule, and Balkishan, a newly appointed teacher, meets Lakshmi, a 14-year-old girl who is to be married to a 40-year-old man. Lakshmi and Balkishan both feel an instant attraction for each other. Lakshmi, desperate to avoid her marriage, runs away with Balkishan to his home, and they decide to get married. On the other hand, Lali falls for Shyam, a man hell-bent on his work and attaining the independence of India. Shyam and Lali develop a mutual relationship, but Shyam does not want to get married now. He wants to get married only after India is independent of the British government. Enjoy these two couples' love stories in The Resolution by Ravi Ranjan Goswami.
I loved that Ravi Ranjan Goswami translated the story from Hindu to English because The Resolution is a beautiful story that needs a bigger audience. It showcases the love lives of young men and women during the liberation struggle of India. The type of society the two couples lived in was completely different from modern-day India. The two couples had different love stories, but both were equally endearing. Love comes in various forms, and it is cultivated over different periods. I loved that the couples genuinely loved each other and were not matched with someone they did not want. The story was unique, and the setting was intense and suspenseful.
