The Regrets of Cyrus Dodd by Bette Lee Crosby is a wonderful tale of life and regret. Cyrus Dodd promised Ruth that he would give her a life she would love. The trouble is, he has a lot of pride and we all know that pride comes before a fall. What started out as a minor argument with his neighbor turns to a bitterness that changes both their lives forever. His plans are not coming to fruition and, before he can fix things, he learns what regret truly means. One man will lose his family and one man will lose his livelihood. Betrayal, murder, revenge, and regret teach two men that being right isn’t always the path to happiness. Cyrus must start over, but he doesn’t know if he can give Ruth the life she deserves, and he doesn’t know if he can go through life without any regrets.
The Regrets of Cyrus Dodd by Bette Lee Crosby had me hooked from page one and I never put the book down until I had finished it. This is a wonderful story, sad yet happy, with a lot of lessons for people to learn, lessons about regret and why we shouldn’t let it rule our lives. This is the fourth book in a series and I must admit I never read the first three – I will be now though. Although the same characters run through the stories, I feel that this was easily read as a standalone rather than as part of a series. There was nothing left to the imagination, the characters were developed incredibly well and the story runs along at a fast but even pace. Absolutely loved it, my only regret is that it had to end! I will definitely be looking for the rest of the series.
