R.L. Kiser is the author of The Prophecy of Tara, A Mystical Fantasy. His other works include The Tales of the Crystal trilogy, the Educated Injun series, and Exile-A SciFi Adventure. Born in Idaho, raised in Arizona, grew up in Los Angeles he's a Vietnam Veteran, been a musician, a Hollywood taxi driver, a computer programmer, a single parent, and ran his own Internet marketing business. He holds an associate's degree in computer science. He currently resides in Sparks, Nevada with three computers and four bicycles.

Twenty-two-year-old warrior Tara is on a quest to seek a great wizard, Duphrene duLac, who lives in a white tower in the far west. Her task is to give the wizard the knowledge that she inherited from the monks to save the world. It is a perilous quest indeed, as there are others who try to stop her at all costs, such as the sadistic Mistress Rowena and her brother Roland. Tara is joined by an unlikely assortment of characters. In the first chapter, she ran into some trouble with bandits but was helped by a man with a strange blade, the “traveler from the stars” named Reed, as prophesied by the monks who raised her. There’s also Luggo, a big man with an intellect to match, and Steph, an ancient warrior.
The fight scenes are well-described with great details – this is definitely R.L. Kiser’s strength. No reader would complain that he or she couldn't imagine the scenes vividly. Nonetheless, there are times when things are a little too convenient in the plot department. Character development is solid, although not the strongest compared to some of Kiser’s books that I've read before. Yet it’s all justifiable as it’s such a wild adventure; you just need to keep turning the pages and stay swept up in the story. Overall, it is a book that would satisfy fantasy adventure fans alike – it’s action-packed and a fast read. That said, The Prophecy of Tara is strictly for mature adults due to some parts of the story that are not suited for younger readers.
