The Power to Stop Any Illusion of Problems: Behind the Manufactured Scarcity of Food and Water by August Clark is a comprehensive guide on methods to overcome the scarcity of natural resources. Clark begins by describing the man-made situations that contribute to scarcity. He discusses issues such as government regulation and its effect on agriculture, and the disadvantages of a few industrial giants controlling the bulk of agricultural production. He explains all that is wrong with the current methods of food production. Finally, he suggests various alternatives to right these wrongs. There is an extensive list of references at the end of the book.
The Power to Stop Any Illusion of Problems is an exceptionally well-researched book. The breadth of topics covered is also wide. August Clark writes about better farming methods and ways to improve the soil. He proposes healthier alternatives to fertilizers and pesticides. He also discusses existing and prospective energy sources at great length. The scope of solutions offered ranges from age-old but long-forgotten wisdom to cutting-edge technology. The pros and cons of the suggested options are explained clearly. The book is like a science textbook in terms of coverage and level of research. Despite this, Clark manages to say it all in mere ninety-odd pages. The role that individuals can play is repeatedly underscored. He encourages readers not to allow a lack of space to deter their attempts at growing food. The reader will finish the book feeling hopeful and empowered.
