The New Being: Preparing for the Emergence of a New Humanity, Volume I by Joel Bryant is a thought-provoking book that offers new perspectives for a New Humanity. The book begins with a statement that instantly catches the attention of readers: “Evolution is inevitable because life is unsuitable.” From this premise, the author explains why a New Being, a kind of mutation in humanity, is inevitable. It is human nature to change, to adapt to the shifting environment and new challenges, and this book indicates a moment that such a change is required for humanity. Divided into four parts, the book redefines the new being, explores the relationship between the new humanity and religion, and discusses the place of race and politics in what the New Humanity is called to be.

The New Being is about what is most essential in our humanity: the ability to create and grow. Joel Bryant examines some of the beliefs that tend to make us feel helpless and look at ourselves as incapable of change while providing new perspectives on dealing with social issues. In The New Being, the author demonstrates that humanity has more power and potential for growth and creativity than it takes credit for. This book is an expression of the author’s faith in humanity and hope for a future that we can create if only we embrace our creative nature. The writing is filled with powerful insights and wisdom and the author provides social commentaries that will help any reader contextualize the message of this thought-provoking, utterly engaging work. It is a wonderful book “about human nature, its problems and its potentials, its perversions and its virtues.” Fans of philosophical works and finely written essays will love this book.
