The passage of time does very little to diminish the experiences of Black Americans and we are reminded of how much more we have to fix with lines like, “I’m not resisting anymore. Please, just don’t shoot me. I’m not resisting you.” Overall, this is a heartening work of historical fiction and a personal epic worth reading. Very highly recommended.
