But his actions soon lead to strange consequences as he tries to correct his mistakes and stop Vandal. Even with the power he commands, can he fix everything in time?

The Movement by Avi Datta is an interesting continuation of the series. Vandal is an unusual villain and it is not clear at first why he wants to bring Vincent down. I think the opening of the book will grab the attention of the reader as Vincent tries to save the love of his life after an attack. This is the catalyst that forces Vincent to make his choice. The story moved at a respectable pace. A lot is happening, but I enjoyed the narration and how it played out. I don't think that Vincent always comes across as an empathetic character, but his actions do prove that he loves Akane and will do anything for her. Science fiction fans would enjoy this book and I would recommend it.

There is no doubt the story aims at readers more intent on immersive experiences, like the Dune series. The time shifts, the duality of characters, and the alternate POV narrative may prove daunting to some, but the richness of detail leaves no doubt this is a thoroughly compiled and intricately detailed world. The characters are on point, and surprisingly, it may be Vandal who piqued my interest the most; he is the quintessential villain who is, in many ways, a victim. Readers will be left to wonder what course his life may have taken if time was allowed to follow a different path from one pivotal incident. It is a layered tale that will linger in conscious thoughts for some time.

The Movement is Avi Datta’s second book in his Time Corrector Series that picks up from the events of the first installment, The Winding. In the first book, readers witnessed how the genius Vincent Abajian became preoccupied with his work at an AI facility and his creation of time turbulence to bring his friend back. This time, Vincent’s AI firm is booming and he is now able to control his powers. On top of that, Akane is still very much a part of his world. While successful businessmen make friends, they also attract enemies. Vandal is bent on destroying Vincent and everything that he holds dear. Vincent is equally resolved to protect what he values and makes it clear that some lines cannot be crossed.

This sequel has an excellent structure as it faithfully follows on from the events in the first book while still being readable as a standalone. Avi Datta never fails to sustain the intensity of the action and this time he raises the bar by way of the antagonist. Vandal makes a hateful villain and Datta has developed the character to be solid and utterly threatening. The story handles the concept of time travel intelligently. It’s a complicated concept that deals with paradoxes, but Chronos explains it with panache when he says that what Vincent can do is just a tiny smidgen of the asynchronicity between Earth time and Universal time. The Movement has just the right elements to carry readers to the next installment. The story arc provides a cliffhanger but doesn’t feel incomplete, because the series is still building to a climax. This book will not disappoint sci-fi lovers.

Vincent has a distinct and compelling dynamic with both of his love interests, Akane and Emika, and this is the primary driving force behind the plot. A stellar addition to the Time Corrector Series.
