The Moustache Fairy by Christopher Holley is an entertaining storybook that revolves around facial hair. Alvin's moustache has gone and he is very sad. Every person and every pet had a magnificent moustache to call their own except Alvin. Every morning when he woke up he checked in the mirror, but alas! ... he covered the smooth space above his lip in shame. He hated not having a moustache and he felt naked without it. He even writes to the Moustache Fairy, asking for a moustache. His sister Alice thinks of a plan to sculpt the perfect "stache" for Alvin. But by then he decides to go to the neighboring town of Silky Smooth where being hairless is seen as being handsome. Will Alvin finally manage to get a moustache and go back to his town? Readers will never look at moustaches the same way once they finish reading the book.
The story is adorable and all the characters will keep readers entertained. The illustrations are bright and lively and they give a good pace and movement to the scenes and the story. The book is an excellent bedtime story that can be read out to children and can also be used for read aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries. Moustaches will be viewed in a different way once readers finish the book. The book also conveys the message of sharing, which makes it even better for kids to read as they learn the importance of sharing through the story.
