The Monster’s Lover by Samantha MacLeod is a medieval paranormal romance set in the nine realms of Norse mythology. Sol Eriksen’s father passed away in a logging accident and so did their chance of bringing in enough purple oak to pay their yearly tax. As a last option, Sol is sold to King Nokkyn as part of his harem. As the days count down and her time of freedom expires, Sol struggles with the idea of being enslaved by an obnoxious man. Sol and her family have lived near the Ironwood forest for years and they are familiar with its legends. Sol never expected to meet with or survive an encounter with the giant wolf Fenris. With time running out, can Sol at least create a beautiful memory if not escape her fate?
For lovers of all things mythological, magical and pertaining to were-creatures, The Monster’s Lover will not disappoint. With an honorary mention of Asgard, Loki and the like, the story focuses on the two young lovers, Sol and Fenris. Samantha MacLeod managed to make a larger than life monster into a vulnerable being and yet decadent creature. The sex scenes in this book are hot and I must mention that there is a threesome. It can easily fit in the erotica sub-genre. Regardless of the very adult scenes, The Monster’s Lover has a fairy tale feel to it that will appeal to those with a romantic heart. This book is only the beginning of Fenris and Sol’s story. There are more books to read in this series.
