I was given this book as a Christmas prsent, the giver knowing I enjoy books a bit left of center. My giver definitely hit a home run with this book.

The characters in this book are real. I started laughing at page 3 and didn't stop until the end...where I said "What do you mean this is the end!?!?! I want MORE!" I really enjoyed the style of writing Davis Aujourd'hui used. I really felt Sister Mary Olga was talking to me and telling me her life story.

I don't think you can say this is "gay fiction" or "religious satire", although that may have been the author's intent. What he or she, since Davis is a pen name, did was create a world we all know, inhabited with people we all know. S/He did that with a great deal of style, humor, and love.

I highly recommend this book to anyone with a slanted sense of humor.

In settling in with the very out of the ordinary nun, Sister Mary Olga Fortitude, I laughed at the very "pickle" she often got herself into. This book is a nicely crafted book that flows so well that it was hard to put it down. I love the characters and look forward to seeing what kind of interesting situations our most holy Sister manages to become involved in. She is a one-of-a-kind mentor to every kind of patron of the church and I wish there had been one like her around when I was growing up. Great read!!

This book was fun to read. The characters names and antics kept me laughing all the way.In addition to the great humor throughout the book, it carried a serious message of tolerance of others who are different. Wouldn't this concept make the world a better place to live? The author left me wanting more and I can't wait for his next book. I highly recommend this wonderful book!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to Theater School in the sixties. All the chorus boys were reading a new, wonderfully funny book by Patrick Dennis about his favorite relative. Patrick painted this relative, a lady, much larger than life and pretty raunchy for that time period. Never-the-less, the public fell in love with her and Patrick's book, titled by the relative's name, became a best seller, a hit broadway play and eventually a hit movie. The title of this racey trifecta winner? AUNTIE MAME! Looks like Davis Aujourd'hui has created a brand new larger than life female character, raunchy enough to suit our new times. SISTER MARY OLGA FORTITUDE is all that and a whole lot more as she saunters through life up to her wimple in naughty notions and slightly devilish doings. If you liked Auntie Mame, hold on to your habit and get on your reading glasses... Until the movie comes out, that is!

If you like sharp wit and tongue- in-cheek, more sophistacted humor, then you'll love this book. The characters are cleverly developed and their bizarre foibles are not unlike some of the little "quirks" we all see inside of ourselves from time to time. As an author("A Golden Tapestry"), I am very familiar with the dilemma of trying to appeal to a broad readership, in spite of being categorized as a genre of one kind or another. This book, I believe, transcends that challenge as it has diverse appeal. Whether you are interested in the humor, clever writing or subtle spirituality, you won't be disappointed. This book is very well constructed and a good read. Looking forward to more from this author in the future.

Yes I couldn't put this book down. I read it in one day. Mr. Aujourd'hui has written a sharp fast and funny novel that lampoon's the Catholic faith but with gentleness and grace. I am a theater director and I believe that Davis's writing style lends itself wonderfully to the stage. Each chapter is Sister Fortitude's personal commentary of life and all the other wacky characters that surround her. This would be excellent stage material for a one woman OR one man stage production. If NUNSENSE could have an all male cast Off-Broadway, why not allow this Sister to have some campy drag fun on the stage? I believe these characters could have a wonderful life on stage. For his first novel Davis Aujourd'Hui shows a strong talent for creating funny and well-written characters that are consistently entertaining which makes it a fun read. I am personally waiting for the next book. I would also like to read more about the author's own life experiences.

absolutely charming and offbeat at the same time!! I read this book in small doses so as to prolong the savoring of every page. It is full of warmth and spirituality. I look forward to other misadventures!

Outrageous and surprising throughout, this book is full of over the top characters. The story is wild and events even wilder. What an extreme
entertainment this is!

I bought the book and the next morning I was on my way to Rochester, N.Y. for a meeting. I totally lucked out that I was in the passenger seat because I cracked the book open and started to read it. I was hooked on Sister Mary Olga Fortitude's presence of humor and wit from that point on. I looked forward to reading it nightly until I returned to Syracuse where I could devour it. She is a no nonsense woman who happens to be a nun and is telling the tales of the folk who live in the town of Bucksnort. She does not hold back. I have met these characters in my life but to feel them on paper is terrific. And I must add that as I went through the book, I loved the spiritual wisdom that Sister Mary Olga gave , the spiritual wisdom of the truth of the human experience that I believe God has for all of us.
