What happened at that first Christmas is a miracle, but can you imagine that for all of your life, you have been dreaming about the Messiah coming, and it finally happens? That is what happened to Mary, Joseph, Elizabeth, Zacharias, Simeon, Anna, the wise men and the shepherds. Hearing that the long awaited Messiah was coming, they knew their lives would change forever. And in her book "The Miracles of Christmas" Stormie Omartian gives an account of how each of these could have felt when they heard the big news. And at the end of each chapter, Stormie added 'My Prayer to God', and 'God's Promises to Me'.
Most of the time we only think of Jesus' birth during the Christmas season, but I appreciate Stormie Omartian writing a book that reminds us that the story of Christmas has meaning and hope for each of our lives everyday. As we read each chapter, we get an idea of what each person felt or thought about the Christ Child that would soon be born, and then a beautiful heartfelt prayer from Stormie to help us apply what we have just read to our daily lives. And to reinforce what you read even more, there is one of God's precious promises to give us hope and peace. "The Miracle of Christmas" is a wonderful book to use for personal devotions, Sunday school classes, and small group studies. It is very well written, and the book's layout is attractive and the graphics inside and out are beautiful and eye-catching. This is a really awesome devotional that can be used around Christmas time as well as throughout the year. So I highly recommend for you to pick up a copy for your library. And remember, don't leave it on the shelf until next December. Read it now and throughout the year to always keep your minds on Jesus.
