The Mad Monk’s Treasure (Southwest Treasure Hunters) by Kris Bock is a romantic suspense story. Erin is on the hunt for the Victorio Peak treasure, a lost treasure hidden by a heretic Spanish priest. Erin isn’t a bold and brash hunter; she’s just a quiet, shy history professor. She finds a clue that could lead to the location of the lost treasure and prepares to go find it with her best friend Camie. However, it seems that someone else wants that treasure and leaves Erin for dead in a ditch after a hit and run. Helicopter pilot Drew is a handsome stranger to the town. He saves Erin from certain death but she can’t work out if he is one of the good guys or not. She does need his help – and his helicopter – to get her and Camie to the New Mexico wilderness. Once there, she and her friend find themselves fighting wild storms, wildlife, and men who are after the same treasure. Erin isn’t giving up though, and she won’t let the treasure fall into the wrong hands without a fight.
The Mad Monk’s Treasure (Southwest Treasure Hunters) by Kris Bock is packed full of everything you could wish for in one book – action, danger, romance, treasure and mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, the plot was well thought out, and the characters were written in a way that made me feel as though I knew them personally. I felt as though I were living the story with them – and let’s not forget the cat! It is an exciting story, very descriptive and exceptionally well written, with plenty of action and lots of twists and turns to keep a reader on their toes. I will definitely be looking for the next book in the series!
