We all go through events that we think are the end of life as we know it. We get through times when we just don’t know how we can make it another step, or we wonder ‘Why me?’ But Kristin Smith Westbrook has been through perhaps more of those than anybody else. And in spite of all of it, despite the awful times and the trauma and the heartache … she’s still standing. A ‘Liver’ who is determined to see the silver lining even when it’s hard, even when it might seem impossible. And not only is she determined to do all that, but she’s determined to help others do it as well. That’s what The Luckiest Unlucky Person I Know is all about. It’s about understanding that bad things and even horrendous, seemingly insurmountable challenges, happen to all of us, but we can overcome them.
Creating the kind of life that’s good for you and that puts you on a positive path isn’t easy for everyone, but Kristin Smith Westbrook has several ideas to help you. Each of the chapters in part two of The Luckiest Unlucky Person I Know is about those ideas. This book lays out not just the story of what Kristin has gone through, but also everything that the author currently does to help them live in the moment and create a more positive outlook. I loved the step-by-step instructions on what to do to help you so you can decide which options work for you in whatever you’re currently going through. Whether it’s ‘switching on the light’ or ‘silver lining meditations,’ or ‘letters from your future self’ or any number of other tips, the important thing is taking the time to look for what’s good in even the worst of the worst moments. There’s always something to be grateful for and that gratitude could just save your life.
