The Little Book of Social Media Marketing for Translators by Nicole Y. Adams is an informative book not only for translators but for any small business owners who want to learn more about social media marketing. The book explains what social media is, how to use the social media marketing tools, and how to measure the results of your marketing campaigns. Making the most of Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and others should be on any freelancer, translator, and business owner agenda, not just for generating leads, sales, and customers, but for gaining credibility in the field and ranking higher in search engines. The book also tackles other aspects of social media such as myths of success, etiquette, and how to keep professional and personal life separate.
As a small business owner, I found The Little Book of Social Marketing for Translators by Nicole Y. Adams extremely useful. Each social media channel is explained in detail from what to expect from it to how to use it for your translation (or any other) business. The language is easy to understand and the chapters are well organized in explanatory paragraphs, bullet points, and tips. I particularly found useful the links at the end that will help any translator professional to explore the online community and get noticed. Also, the marketing plan template that Adams designed can be used by any professional to get started and then grow their online presence by cleverly using social marketing tools. And giving myself as an example, the book helped me to better understand how Twitter works.
