C. S. Wachter lives in rural Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, with her husband Joe, one German Shepherd, and three cats. She and Joe have been married for more than forty years and have three sons, one grandson and one granddaughter.
Ms. Wachter earned her degree in Performing Arts and English Education from Rowan University in 1975. She compares developing a character’s perspective to preparing for an acting role. As a life-long lover of books, she has read and enjoyed a variety of genres. However, after reading J. R. R. Tolkien in middle school her favorite has been, and remains to this day, Fantasy with a Christian perspective.

The Light Unbound is the fourth book in The Seven Words series by C. S. Wachter, a science fiction series with powerful spiritual underpinnings and a tale that is filled with inspiration. Rayne is trapped by the evil Sigmund and he feels nothing but betrayal. In his loneliness, he succumbs to the temptation to turn away from the One whom he believes has abandoned him in his quest for the scrolls. In a moment of dark despair, he is aided by an unlikely ally, an ancient with the look of a child called Mite. He lives in anonymity in the Camp of the Forgotten. Powerful foes are advancing towards all of Ochen, and while desperation possesses the hearts of its people, Prince Rayne must forget his self-loathing and do the one thing that matters — save his people.
This is a novel with strong religious themes, one that features the proverbial struggle between good and evil. The protagonist is a symbolic character and it is interesting how he mirrors the characteristics of Christ, who felt abandoned and betrayed by his friends at the moment he most needed them and who once turned to God in the garden to ask him to take away the bitter cup of suffering. Rayne is an elaborately developed character. A novel with an interplanetary setting and a conflict that is phenomenal and deftly developed, The Light Unbound beautifully portrays what happens when we allow God to act through our weakness. The conflict escalates pretty fast and gains momentum from page to page. I particularly loved the way the internal psychological conflict is developed, exploring the depths of the hero’s weakness and the darkness invading his soul. C. S. Wachter is a great storyteller who knows how to weave strong themes and an inspiring message into a story. A satisfying conclusion to a series that will, undoubtedly, have readers spellbound.
