The Legend of the Stinky Sock is a short story by Laura Riley for young children. The story starts with Conner, a young boy who plays for the Little League baseball team called the Rockets. Conner was very upset by the poor performance of his baseball team this season until his dad told him about The Legend of the Stinky Sock that could make anyone’s skills better than ever! With this newfound knowledge in mind, Conner determines to find this remarkable stinky sock. Connor sets out with his brother, Nolan, on a great adventure to become the best baseball player of all time.
The Legend of the Stinky Sock is a brilliant story of a young boy’s big dreams of becoming the best baseball player for the Little League baseball team. Laura Riley perfectly captured the true essence of determination, practice, and hard work in this beautifully written story. The story shows at the end of the day that success is obtained by those who truly wish for it. I really enjoyed Conner’s strong-willed mindset, which sets a great example for children. It teaches them they are in control of the success they wish to achieve. In my opinion, this encouraging tale is very light-hearted and pleasant to read. I really liked the colorful illustrations throughout the book. They paint a clear picture of the struggles Conner faced when practicing his baseball skills with his brother. I recommend this book for its entertaining and marvelously set-out life lesson.
