The Laugh Supper: A time-defying dialogue – crammed with wisdom and laughter! by Leonard Ryzman is not only entertaining but is also a thought-provoking read. Nine famous individuals from history – Leonardo da Vinci, Ralph Waldo Emerson, President Abraham Lincoln, President John F. Kennedy, Groucho Marx, Mae West, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Dorothy Parker, and John Lennon - all join together for a dinner party. This is not just any old dinner party; this is a dinner party filled with lively conversations about the world and their views and thoughts with regard to life and society today in the light of the time periods during which each of them lived. The book begins with a brief introduction of each guest, and then it jumps right into the various dinner conversations. Some of the topics of discussion include music, television, modes of transportation, and how various aspects of our lives today have been influenced by these individuals and other icons from the past.
This is a fun read and one that really had me thinking about how life today differs from life in previous time periods. It was fun to imagine this group of famous people from different periods in history being able to sit around a table and share their thoughts with each other. This would be a perfect gift for a history buff or individuals who like to have discussions about politics and life in general. This is an entertaining read with several enlightening moments that will compel you to contemplate exactly how life has changed and where society is headed in the future.
