The Hunting of Man is a work of fiction in the science fiction, adventure, and action genres. It is best suited to mature adult readers owing to the presence of violence and explicit language throughout. Penned by author Kenton E.H. Ward, the plot follows former Special Intelligence Group Operator Tommy ‘Dead-Smoke’ Cade when he is captured by Ward, leader of a powerful military organization. To save himself and his team, Tommy must hunt down his former comrade, Samson ‘Fire-Fanged’ Hayes, whom he once considered a brother. Enhanced with new abilities, Samson seeks revenge on Tommy. Amidst this peril, Tommy struggles with his connection to the malevolent entity Starwell. Facing Ward's schemes and numerous dangers, Tommy's quest is a high-stakes race for survival.
Author Kenton E.H. Ward has crafted a gripping and intense read packed with action and suspense from cover to cover. The intricate relationship between Tommy Cade and Samson Hayes, from brotherhood to bitter enmity, is a powerful emotive core that cuts through the action and offers some deep grounding in reality that readers can connect with. The backdrop is atmospherically right to complement these emotive and explosive scenes, offering a richly detailed and dynamic world. I was also fascinated with the psychological complexity of so many multifaceted and compelling characters, showing a real sense of how disturbances to our psyche can produce realistically explosive behaviors and actions. The relentless pace and constant threats kept me on edge, eager to see how Tommy would navigate each perilous situation. The subtle themes of lasting scars and the consequences of a violent history provided a thought-provoking contrast to the high-octane action. Overall, The Hunting of Man is a masterfully crafted military science fiction epic that I would certainly recommend to one and all.
