The House by Lacey Deaver is a good Christian story from beginning to end. Cheri is a troubled young woman running for her life. She hides in a truck in Seattle and, after three days without food and water, she escapes from the truck in a small Texas town. Cheri has no money and no place to go, so as she wanders the town she is picked up by the local Sheriff who brings her to the “house” of Margret and Carl Hanna. Daniel is a long time friend of the Hannas and often stays in the guesthouse. Cheri is mean and angry at the recent development in her life. Margret and Daniel befriend her over time and slowly she changes. The strength of growing friendships and belief in God is the crux of this heartwarming story.

The House will make you smile and make you cry, but mostly it will keep you glued to the book until you reach the end. It is a very fast paced story and only took a few hours of reading to finish, but I was really sorry to come to the final page and leave my new friends behind. Lacey Deaver is a marvelous storyteller. She has spiced the book with just enough suspense, drama, romance and uncertainty to keep me reading with great anticipation of the ending. I absolutely adored each of the characters and the plot is flawless. This book is perfect.
