The Hidden Saboteur: A Christian Psychological Thriller by Charles Besondy is a disturbing story that follows Clay, a man besieged by demonic forces. While his career is successful, he is a haunted man, with voices from the past stalking him in his home in Seattle and sinister attacks happening on the street. Clay is losing it. Then one night at the parking garage, his assistant Sheryl Landing hears a voice that tells her to protect Clay and to “bring him to me.” As Clay struggles to unravel the mystery of who he is, Sheryl must fight to bring him to the light of faith. It is the battle between good and evil, and the prize is Clay’s soul. But is Sheryl’s love powerful enough to dispel the darkness that invades Clay’s soul?
The name Clay is very symbolic, and the character has a pivotal place in the story. Clay can be anyone in the potter’s hand, fragile and yielding. At least, that is how the protagonist of this tale appears to this reader: he is weak and broken. He is manipulated by the evil one. He is genuine, someone that readers will instantly connect to because his story reflects the battles in the personal lives of readers. Charles Besondy creates a powerful character in Sheryl, a loyal woman whose faith is unshakable, but she has her trials as well. As the connection between Sheryl and Clay grows more substantial, the devious schemes of the saboteur become more cunning as well. The story is engaging, replete with realistic scenes, and featuring strong imagery. Charles Besondy creates a spiritual atmosphere that readers will enjoy and characters that instantly win their sympathy.
The Hidden Saboteur: A Christian Psychological Thriller is well-narrated by Shawn Saavedra in a voice that brilliantly captures the story's tone. It is interesting how the variations in style and voice represent the different characters involved in the dialogues. The narrator allows the drama in the story to shine through the audio. It becomes easy for readers to engage with the characters' feelings as they listen to this professionally produced audiobook.
