I am a product of the American educational system. I teach English in China. Classes are huge and personal attention is only given to students who provide the teacher with a little something extra at the beginning of the month. The message and lessons found in The Heart of Education by Dara Feldman apply and are transformational in all countries and all societies, but are desperately needed here. There are so many wonderful quotes in The Heart of Education that you could just take the quotes and have a wonderful book. But on top of all this wisdom from educators past and present, you have a step by step plan on how to transform your classroom...and while you're at it, your life.
Dara Feldman's sincerity, commitment, and hard-won wisdom reverberates from every page of The Heart of Education. The Heart of Education starts with a foreword by Jack Canfield, a very noted educator and author, and then goes on to give us step by step guidance on how to instill virtue into our personal life, our family life, and the classroom. More and more, education seems to be focused on statistics, scores, and meeting the requirements of the No Child Left Behind policy. Dara Feldman takes us away from the statistics and hard facts that so many in today's world worship so much and brings us back to the forgotten reality that the teacher-student relationship is a personal one and kids of all ages need love and guidance.
