Author Biography

I am RJ Capone, and this is Loki's Quest.

Born in Saratoga Springs, New York in 1958 ...Graduated from Ballston Spa High school (class of 1976) and getting a late start in writing, I have been a long time role player from the early D&D days.
It has long been my dream to tell the story of my fictional world Kambarington, and the story of the lives that call Druid Lake home. The characters in the story are based on real life people, but those people may (or may not) live the lives that I have portrayed in my stories.

Jim is visited by a strange old man looking for a person named Loki, who is supposed to fight against the Horde Lord. Tired from working three weeks straight at 12-hour shifts, Jim wants nothing more than to enjoy his beer and relax. In The Guardian of the Lake: The Kambarington Saga - Book One, this strange encounter leads to disturbing dreams and, when Jim examines the ring the old man left behind, he realizes that it is covered with runes that he can’t decipher. RJ Capone continues the story with each of Jim’s friends receiving some type of artefact from this same strange old man. When their curiosity gets the better of them, they manage to teleport to The Lake in the land of Kambarington, where the evil Baltazor has escaped his prison and threatens to destroy all who had stood in his way during the Great War. Jim and his friends are each special characters with different names and purposes in Kambarington than in ‘the Other Place,’ who need to put their talents to the test to bring the different races and associations together to find and defeat Baltazor once and for all. Will they ultimately succeed and at what price?

Developed as a type of role playing scenario, The Guardian of the Lake: The Kambarington Saga - Book One by RJ Capone is well organized with strong characters, vivid descriptions of settings, and a solid plot. On its own, it is an interesting story that is easy to read so it is perfect for younger readers, perhaps grade 4 and older, but will flow well into Book 2, Friends of the Guardian where there will be more character and setting development. I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Guardian of the Lake and highly recommend it to any and every role-playing enthusiast or gamer as well as readers of heroic sagas.
